I thought about FMO all morning, but the LTD, equity of $2.0 B, $3.5B of which is goodwill, a dash of asbestos, and negative operating cash flow last quarter scared me off.

So I picked up some ODP instead.<G>

Good luck w/ FMO. It's been on my radar screen since 15, and one of these days I'll have to bite.

Mike,

What's the downside story with FMO? Balance sheet? Asbestos? It looks like it's priced for a depression based on the earnings estimate!

MB,

Has anything changed at LGND. If not, it looks like a first third again.

Michael,

i'm curious as to what funny business might take place in the next week's run-up to the exercise date of the ligand warrants. i had to dip in today for my first third and went the warrant route for now. I seem to remember being in another warrant situation that played kind of kinky in the last week. Will there be some folks short the common and looking to pick up cheap warrants prior to next saturday? And if there is some kind of arb situation likely will that create an "artificial" price dip in which one might profitably establish a full position?

thanks for your thoughts on this one. also if you have any insights into freeport FCX and their various preferred classes i'd be keen to hear them.

MB-Do you know of a tech CEF with a big discount???
I know you don't like this sector but I'd like to take a diversified position at a discount if it exists. TIA Bob

Michael,
What else, other than price, is attracting you to FMO? Do you like their management, or balance sheet, or their prospects in an economic slowdown?
Thanks,
/Kit
