No, life expectancy in general went up across the board, if you take a look at the mortality tables you can see the increases, i.e. those alive at 50 that are still alive at 75. I don't know about physical fitness, which is what you are really questioning, but people are living longer whether you measure them from birth or recalculate the odds at any given point later in life.

Although there has been a recent trend in the difference between men and women dropping, likely due to bad exposures increasing among women, like smoking and workplace stuff.

Here is the table of life expectancy from the Virginia Code.
I think it's interesting that at age 65, your life
expectancy is 17 years, or age 82, at 75 your life
expectancy is 11, or age 86, and at 85, your life expectancy
is 6, or age 91. The longer you live, the longer you are
expected to live. The statistical effect of people dying
young smoothes out the longer you live.
