Eric L: Thanks. Would it be practical / possible to equip a phone or handheld or laptop or desktop with one slot (and appropriate flexible software) to handle more than one "card", so that it would be possible to insert the SIM card to start up get connected etc. and then pull that card out and insert a similar size card which had credit card like functions for transactions with banks, etc.?

Or is that much too fanciful or impractical.

Would seem like there would be a good deal of push from banks and others who would like to find a way to use wireless for transactions (and profit from that). So perhaps the service providers will push, while customers demand - i.e. pressure to get this to be possible sooner rather than later.

But then, I am always looking ahead.

Will be fun to see what happens - and when it does it will probably be in a form and way we do not yet foresee.

Best.

PS My interest of course is that it seems that HDR is particularly well suited for all this - and available in 2001 initially and widespread in 2002.
