penni, I DO think you're wrong. I understand and take your point, but...

Evidently Edwarda, though she didn't live in a vacuum, doesn't have anyone close enough to her to have MADE her see a doctor. If her neighbors hadn't been worried, she'd never have gone to the hospital at all.

Yes, in a sense all this is an invasion of Edwarda's privacy, but having your privacy invaded is better than dying because no one cared.

I posted earlier about people who live alone. You haven't done in a great many years, so perhaps you don't quite understand.

I think much of the discussion here is potentially helpful. Certainly that which addresses "how she treated her illnesses". Who would know about it, other than the people she was in communication with? She does, as I say, live alone. PMs won't do the trick: we need to find as many people as we can who communicated with her once she got sick, and that can only be done with a live thread.

I really don't think she'd mind. When she reads it I think she'll be enormously touched by everyone's concern, and by the outpouring of affection.

>>If I hurt anyone I apologize-- I could be wrong, and just projecting my own feelings about the situation.<<

Rambi,

I think your thoughts are very well grounded. I feel the majority here are just simply distraught over Edwarda's illness and just want to do whatever one can to help facilitate her recovery. Obviously, her family and close friends who are present with her will do anything and everything that is humanly possible. I fear that many of us are dumbfounded by the nature and severity of her illness and in our zeal to make sense of it have tried to publicly piece together a most unfortunate puzzle. I think it would be best to turn our focus to the thread header and pray for Edwarda. And do our best to send our love and concern as "disembodied" voices to a dear and gracious friend.

Rambi, a little; MSB and Archimedes, a lot:

This is not the time for criticism. One poster urged erring in the direction of caution. We do not do that. We err in our own excesses. So, as that is how it is, can we not let it be?

Absurd though it may sound, I knew Edwarda very well - and I am glad she will agree with the direction of this post.

The reason I know is that she is real smart. Real real smart. She has trsnscended many of the borders that restrict us. She knew, as an absolute fact, that pettiness is petty. This resulted in a benevolence that loved all - and caused all to love her. We all feel that. It is obvious. We are not seen by her for our faults and limitations, but for our hopes and aspirations. It is a saintly position for a mind to have. And she has that position. We are all loved and accepted - not condemned.

(At this writing, I am sorry for having satirically lashed out at Shootie. The lesson, the Edwarda lessor, has only come to me today - where I have spent every minute watching the scene taking place on this screen.)

It would be quite possible to view this passing parade of private persons plying their plights - and call it obscene. Call it an intrusion, a vilification. It is ofter so very very bloody. It is frequently so shameless. It is picky, snotty - assigning itself validity through the universally accepted slogan of This Is Caring.

And yet, sitting back from it, there is a procession of individual humans, each calling in one way for help and love.

The first day, there was nothing but denial. Everyone posting had a new disease, a new criticism of the hospital and its staff, and, in some cases, even courses of remedy.

A bunch of hackers digging in doing THEIR VERY BEST to face, and try to overcome, a most dire situation.

Screaming, adamant shouting about wrongs being done and rights that were being ignored. Objectively it was a mockery. For each of the participants, it was an effort, a try, an offer of help and love and self.

The intentions of each and every poster were beyond reproach. They were, in a human way, that Edwarda knows about, beatific - benevolence taken to an active extreme.

And this day, the fury has quieted. We have gone into detective work. Can we find the Cause - so the malady can be crushed. And it has reached out to prayer and positive thoughts.

This second day seems more like an attemt at resignation, where the previous day screeched denial.

AND WHO IS BAD IN ALL OF THIS? NOT A SINGLE SOUL!

The thread, of course, should be scorched at an appropriate time. But MSB and Archimedes, and you a little penni, please do not castigate this outflowing of our efforts.

We are doing the most we can. In the best way we can. We love Edwarda. Her situation scrapes us visiously. We respond. We even bicker a bit. But we are all doing the best that our personal situations allow.

Edwarda is, in fact, my only true friend - though our communication has been minimal. We did communicate.

And I am positive she will love every single one of you for the energy, thought, effort that you are putting into her cause.

If we could all now cybertouch each other, a bolt of lightening would be produced by our singleness of purpose.

God (whom I do not believe in as a personal companion) Bless Us All!

Rambi you are so right. And if it was someone else other than Edwarda, and Edwarda was with us now, she would agree with you too. I know that to be true.
