What difference does it make if Brazil wants to have GSM companies invest in local wireless networks that will compete with CDMA.

C'mon, in addition to splitting market share currently, makes eventual DS-CDMA evolution (vs. MC) far more likely.

Maybe some of the techies can comment on the relative costs of upgrading from the current CDMA spectrum in Brazil to the 1X/3X product line. Isn't this costlier than when the base CDMA network is already at 1900Mhz?

Keith ---I can understand the logic with Brazil ---If we want a fair playing field why are we (USA ) not demanding a fair playing field in China ? We have a trade deficit of about six billion annualy with a country that is not using a technology that is supposed to be equal if not superior to GSM ?
It really bothers me that China Unicom is using our capital markets to buy an European product ? When does the Government stands up to give our companies a "fair playing field " ?

PS If I was DR J I would be all over Congress on this issue .
