So the only 'expert' analysis the media will give us today on this news comes from Snyder- he of the $50 price target. Where is the First Union analyst today, or any other analyst for that matter, spelling out the implications of this deal? Where is the press release from Qcom, welcoming Nokia to the CDMA fold? Pretty anti-climactic. The market does a big ho-hum. Amazing. Either they're slow to catch on or we're way ahead of ourselves.

Yes, CDMA in fact is doing well in Brazil. Now the bad news: it will not be in the future.

As for GSM being allowed to compete, yes. But thereïs more to that: CDMA1 will not be allowed to compete. Thatïs not "exactly what we want".

And that is not the worst news. Worst news is the reason behind the 1800 band choice. That is reserving 1900 to ETSI specified W-CDMA use.
