Cha2,

One "wild card" for me is that Sandisk seems to have the "form factor" which will fit best with wireless handhelds

Is that because of the small size? What are the other reasons that make you think that?

There is almost a classical battle with Sony and IBM.

A few years back at the time of the MMC announcement it was apparent that Sandisk had moved the goal posts on the mechanical drive competition. Ausdauer and I discussed the future implications including a Dick Tracy style communicator.

Another factor that has me invested in Sandisk again is the multi-level cell technology. Both Toshiba and Matsushita (Panasonic) have mentioned it on several occasions recently when talking of the future in flash memory.
