I think that old saw confuses a lot of folks.

It means the market's perception of a company results in a price, and that price is an indisputable fact.

It does not mean that the market always comes to an accurate assessment.

In reality, Mr. Market is short sighted and fickle when it comes to valuations. That's why stock prices fluctuate from minute to minute.

A well informed stock picker has the opportunity to profit hugely when Mr. Market gets it wrong.

Allan,
There are all kinds of QCOM owners/posters. Some are ephemeral staying/posting for a few days and returning later when momentum returns. There are others who are always in the stock. The size of the position may vary but they're always in it. There are still others who just never touch their shares. Period. We all lament the recent stock price decline but each style will behave differently in reaction to it.
I'm in group two and after listening to Dr.Jacobs interview twice today I'll be moving more money into QCOM tomorrow.
