First a sidebar : Thank you Winston, truly appreciate all your valuable input :o)

Stew,

Have I mis-read, becasue I was under the impression MSFT was only to pay royalties on some of their products, not the full product line? I should review that aspect, but was hoping for your quick thought.

Any thoughts on what the cable industry will do in light of this? Will they bow to the fact this makes GMST technology pretty much their only choice? Will they fight a silly fight?

Is there any way to get a feel on how the 2-way system is coming along? I REALLY feel this component is CRITICAL to developing the tornado all these Gorillas want (speaking of, why in the world would a gorilla ever wish for a tornado in the first place, I dont think a gorilla even knows what a tornado is, based on geography :o)

Feeling good for all thread members, times like this clearly illustrate the benefits of an online community formed of intelligent individual investors sharing their thoughts.

Regards, JB

First: Thank you, Stew. You have been the Gregg Powers of Gemstar, than which few higher compliments could be paid. You did massive amounts of DD, freely shared the fruits of your research with the rest of us, and kept the flame burning during the long dark night of our collective soul. (Well, ok, it wasn't that bad, but it was for the options holders among us <ggg>.)

Second: Thank you, Mike Buckley. You played John the Baptist for this puppy to the G&K crowd, and have provided a constant source of sober analysis and gentle warnings to keep our exuberance rational.

Third: Thank you, Gemstar mavens (Jeff Bond, John Hsu, and many others). You provided a great source of information and analysis that helped educate us and think clearly about our investment.

Now on to more important subjects, like my Aug 85 calls. My question to the board is this: what should I do with them? The basic calculation, obviously, is to balance the rapidly decreasing premium against the potential for the stock to go higher in the next few weeks. I would be very curious as to what people's guts tell them in this regard.

thanks in advance,

tekboy@yippeeeeeeeeeeee!.com

Stew,

I believe that such an exercise would be premature and in vain. The synergy here yields few such concerns. An example would be eBooks and eMagazines.

I totally agree about the synergies. I don't really have a concern. Just trying to get more informed and upto speed on the TV Guide end of the business.

Cheers,

Piyush
