Elmer - RE: "If you are going to show me a benchmark where Athlon runs unoptimized code faster than CuMine then I already concede the point. That doesn't mean anything."

Yes it does. It means CURRENT FPU intensive software runs faster on Athlon than on Cumine! It means Athlon don't need no stinkin' optimization to fun faster than Cumine.

"Show me where Athlon optimized code runs faster on an Athlon than CuMine optimized code does on a CuMine."

I don't know any of either. Maybe JC could help us out.

BTW, in your rants earlier today, you forgot to mention that Athlon platform runs on PC133 SDRAM, while Cumine can run with PC800 DRDRAM. When the Athlon gets its own high bandwidth platform, I expect its SPECfp scores to go up.

So K7 is not a superior architecture, not because it runs slower than Coppermine without any software modification, but because it runs slower with software??? OK, the coppermine needs software to catch up while the K7 doesn't need it as much, thus the K7 is not superior, WOW, you're such a neophyte in the arts of sophistry.
