Thanks for the polite response. It is so easy for people (me included) to get offended, when a lot of money and ego is involved.

I've just got a starter position in QCOM, 10% of my money, no LEAPs. An investor could do OK by just putting some money, the first of every month, into QCOM, no matter what the price. If they'd started doing that before March 1999, they would have done very well. If they'd started doing that in August 1999, they will do well..........eventually. Assuming they have the discipline to keep buying, and hold, through all the FUD. Assuming they are not using margin or options. And they still wouldn't do as well as someone who timed his purchases, buying only when the stock is out of favor (now, or earlier than early 1999).

I added at 100, and doubled at 72, and quadrupled at 54. Dollar cost average works

Great if you have a bottomless pit of money or can manage your funds to hit the bottom at the right time.

I bought at 180. Doubled at 98, quad at 92 then started getting margin calls at 60. Now I am all set UNLESS Q starts heading down again into margin territory !
