You touch on an interesting and complex issue with your usual lack of nuance.

If gay people are in more danger than straight people do they need more protection in order to be "equally protected" from violence? I think even you would agree that heterosexuals are not beaten up by marauding gangs of queers looking to rough up heterosexual couples kissing or holding hands- could you agree to that? And if gay people ARE in danger of being beaten up for simply showing affection in public do they have the right to be protected? If the current protection isn't working should it be stepped up with hate crimes? Of course perhaps you think gay people acting gay out on the street deserve to be beaten up. I really don't know.

I have trouble with hate crime laws- especially- as in the Rodney King case- when they seem to get around double jeopardy. But on the other hand one of the things most dangerous to a society is hate violence. Nothing is remembered longer and causes more bitter wounds. I think you can look at the Balkans and see that.

Of course this is a complex answer and poor Ebill will never get through it since he will think it is like an insurance disclaimer. But I will tell you one thing about disclaimers- they are written by people who think things out thoroughly in advance. I think that is why Ebill has trouble with them.

ROFL--
DO you have any idea how tempting it is to say- YES MASTER, O HORRIBLE INFERIOR HETERO HUMAN, YOU SHOULD BE SOLD INTO SLAVERY AND FORCED TO CHANGE THE SHEETS AND DO THE LAUNDRY OF AN INVALUABLE GAY COUPLE UNTIL YOU ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR SUPERIORITY!

I mean really! IS there a point to your post except to be nasty and try to insult the few people remaining here trying to be rational with you just because you are so furious with X?
BTW, I am opposed to the addition of hate crimes to our legal system. Murder is murder.

No doubt many posters feel a homosexual life is worth more than a heterosexual's. I believe that all human's are created equal and deserve equal justice under the law. Except X, who seems to be some pompous addled-brained under-life.
