I doubt that very many people would find the idea of being a random disturbing element in a chaotic field very, well, compelling..........

An anthropologist reported that two little dogs held a rhinoceros at bay. I think it may be argued that the domestication of wolves is the most important single factor in spreading mankind around the world. A second, less important factor, is the inherent irresistible greed of "Western Civilization." I think I prefer the dog.
