John,

what do you think of AMD's after tax earnings?

I thought they were fine. I don't expect much change in the stock price until AMD shows much higher sales of Athlons. 1.8 million is not going to impress anyone.

With Intel getting their yield problems worked out, the task becomes much harder for AMD to get ahead.

John,

I've been looking around, I can't find any "after tax" earning estimates for AMD to make a comparison with.

All I have seen is AMD reported 1.51 untaxed against a 1.14 untaxed earning estimate. Some people might consider that a blowout.

TIA

steve

John, I saw your mention of Hector Ruiz on one of those AMD threads. I heard him interviewed by Mark Hanes of CNBC. He comes across as a very diplomatic guy. Said there used to be many companies in the X86 market, now only 2, and you could tell from Intel's and AMD's reports of the week that the market is very strong. Both should continue, also. He didn't go to Jerry Sanders school, that's for sure, no atempted slur of Intel.

On flash, he said he didn't see any reason why that market wouldn't be +100% per year for several years out, or something akin to that!

Hanes also asked him about AMD's cap equip expenditures (I think Mark likes that area). I think Ruiz said AMD likes to watch that area, maybe borrow on other companies' (MOT?). I was away a bit from the TV, didn't get that part too well (nor the flash part).
Overall, Ruiz very bullish.
