S&P funds have no choice - most of them have to exactly match the index.

I hope you are not having to go through the hassle that I have been going through to trade COMSV and PALMV.
I managed to sell a portion of my PALMV Friday after a pretty heated exchange with one of Dreyfus' 'brokers' at the NY exchange. When I tried to buy them back this morning they told me that I couldn't trade PALMV or COMSV until the distribution date. I asked them what they thought was the point of these stocks and they said it was "Their policy not to trade them until they were actually in the account."
It's pretty scary, not to say expensive, trying to deal with people who do not understand what is going on.

OT

David,

I fully expect 1 full year of detailed, lengthy explanations on the "lu" thread of the pending spinoffs. (Even if you don't own "lu")!

And while you have some free time, please explain the Agilent situation this morning - in detail.

(By now, you should know I am only giving you a hard time!)

:)
