<<Any leaps or options you hold will include the dividend rights, and therefore will appreciate accordingly.

Thanks frank, but if you dont mind, please explain a little more. My qcom holdings are currently as follows....not what I used to have, but at least I still have some......

3 2003 leaps

How will this spinoff effect my holdings. Am I getting appreciation in current holdings....am I getting new shares of the spun off company and etc....

Most of all, I am curious as to how the leaps fit in. I see how the shares will, but the leaps are not stock...they are simply contracts to buy the stock. lets say they are going to issue .25shares of the new company per qcom share ( just picking a number out of the blue..it means nothing ). Wouldnt the leaps have to be excersised prior to the spin off. In other words, wouldnt you actually have to hold the stock, to gain anything from the spin off....if not, please explain what happens with my 3 leaps when the spinooff occures

Thanks much for your help

There is a FAQ up on the Qualcomm board....they are attempting to make this a tax-free distribution.

Just for speculation....how much do you think that the QCT division would be worth to Intel or TXN?

At the end of the news conference, Steve Aultman(??) said something to the effect that companies that received earlier licenses will be rewarded compared to companies that licensed late." I see this whole thing as very negative for Nokia -- they just waited too late. Now they will have to X-license with Spinco and also deal with QCOM who will still want 5% royalty. Then there is the future question of a Spinco that is tightly controlled by Jacobs now but could at some time be merged with an Intel creating a chip monster.

Anyone seen the invitations to the (patent) POOL PARTY that Spinco is going to be holding? They should be going out soon.

When our Leaps will get really confusing is when TXN or INTC buys Spinco.

Why do I have Ed Snyder's "no forseeable good news" quote running through my head?

redividend rights
Are you sure about that?
When a stock splits, the option splits too. But when a stock gives a dividend the option holder does not get the dividend, the shareholder does. After all the option is simply an option to buy someone else's shares. Seems like you'd only get the spinoff if you exercised your options.
