dave, Is the glass half-empty or half full? I just posted that I thought the MOT story would lift the semi's tomorrow and then you go ahead and say that the SOXX will drag down Motorola tomorrow. Actually, the news came out after the close so its full impact might not even have been felt on MOT's stock.

I agree that if MOT follows the SOX down the tubes tomorrow, there isn't much hope for this market.

David, thanks for your comments re: announcements and SOX.

Any thoughts on whether a SOX bottom is close at hand?

Also, are you generally inclined towards spending announcement ammo in an up-market, vs. spending it in a down market to try and slow the fall?

I guess I might be in agreement with a 'hold it until the market is in a mood to listen' strategy.

Also, any chance that AMD is holding back a bit on announcements until 5PM tomorrow? That's the final date/time to tender (and not withdraw) the debt notes they are attempting to buy back. A big announcement could trigger many to withdraw their offers, I guess?

Or is this simply wishful thinking?
