Hi jim kelley; Re: "Timna should propel RDRAM into very high volume. This is an interesting chipset with lots of value applications that can take advantage of RDRAM granularity and bandwidth advantages."

Timna is going to ship with SDRAM, not RDRAM. Intel announced this a few months ago.

The rumors of a new memory translation unit are an indication that i840 is going to begin shipping with SDRAM around 1Q01. This means say goodbye to RDRAM.

Bye! Bye!

Jim:

What's your read on the NEC press? Methinks if they ramp RDRAM sufficiently, RMBS Sales Dept will probably ask legal and Tate to go litely on the SDRAM issues. OTOH, this would kill RMBS' ability to defend its IP, at least wrt SDRAM and DDR. hmmm
