Mike, the machine was given to the British by some Poles who got it from the Germans. One of the few things they succeeded at in WWII.

I hope you have enough film for all the pictures you will take in Peru. Make sure you get a shot of that

As one expert to another, I'm sure you would agree, that the Germans were confident that even with a machine it was an impossible task to break the code. It was the genius of a bunch of code breakers at Bletchley Park that did the trick. It was also the second war in a row that German secret messages were read by the Allies.
