Hi Jack,

Go easy on the welfare folks, they get less than 1% as much welfare from the govmint as corporations do, by my calculation. Think about this, when those on welfare go to buy their kids school clothes, they pay a sales tax. When you or I buy a book, video or computer over the Internet, we pay none. Is this fair?

Here's where you'll find a lot of growth: star-telegram.com

Only problem is, it's a growth in perversity, mean spiritedness and disillusionment, IMVHO.

Back to the fun stuff:
Take a look see at ILX Lightwave. Just announced it intends to sell shares in their profitable company to the likes of you and me. I'm thinkin' I kinda like the looks of this one. :))

Best, Ray

I had asked, over on the CIEN thread: Anyone care to take a stab at when critical Internet access penetration occurred?

Jack's reply: My guess is within a year of so of the 56K modem intro... One of big disappointments with my upgrade to a cable modem is the annoying lag between URL request and delivery. Any ideas what causes this phenomenon? No complaints on file downloads though.

What is the approximate lag between hitting enter and when the download initiates?
