Not to mention that *IF* WCDMA made two very direct changes, they would merge with the MSM chip very well.

1. change the chip rate back to simple multiple compatible with CDMA2000.

2. change to synchronous pilot acquistion.

This and the convergence that was mentioned would get one worldwide std and alot closer to worldwide roaming. (assuming NTT gives up the pioneering efforts on something which is clearly smoke and mirrors).
