Prior Art
Thanks to Rick on the Fool
Looks like MU is grasping at air to me
==========================================================
In the Micron filing, they refer to the following Rambus patents as the "patents in suit":
5915105,
5953263,
5954804,
5995443, references IBM patent 4845664
6032214, references IBM patent 4845664
6032215, references IBM patent 4845664
6034918, references IBM patent 4845664
6038195

The term "prior art" doesn't concern me too much at this point. Four of the Rambus patents reference the IBM 4845664 patent which means Rambus and the US Patent Office were aware of the IBM patent. The fact that the patent examiner's attention was pointed to the IBM patent makes it unlikely that they would have issued the patent if they covered the same exact claim.

Micron to bring back EDO - LOL
Thanks to the Breadman
=====================================================
My investment account is with DLJ Direct, so I get to see all DLJ Research Reports. The Micron Downgrade was rather interesting. The only mention of RAMBUS was at the end of the report. This is a RIOT. Get a load of this:

"Furthermore, the company is expected to continue to benefit from its de-emphasis of Rambus DRAM and the re-introduction of an EDO design on leading edge technology."

Is this an oxymoron or what? EDO...and leading edge in the same sentence! Are they serious?!?! They're bringing back EDO!!! Does this also mean they are giving up on DDR? I can see it now, P4 with RDRAM or Athlon with EDO! HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA How many AMD investors would continue to hold the stock if this were the case? ;) After reading this, I don't think there is any doubt that RAMBUS patents cover SDRAM and DDR! If Micron thought they could win, this EDO non-sense would not be brought up! EDO is the last memory interface technology to not embark on RAMBUS patents. This is locked up. BUY all the RMBS you can! I don't recommend shorting any stock, but if you want a good call, SHORT MU! That company is clearly thinking with their heart and not their brain. Classic case of EGO overriding BUSINESS! Appleton will be canned shortly.

Best Regards,
