China Strategy & Philosophy as Relates to CDMA. If the choice is between NTT and QCOM, there is no choice. The Europeans had some chance before they fell under Japanese influence.Now they don't. Also, they lied about GPRS. I see the Chinese falling in love with the South Koreans. The apparent reconcilliation between N Korea and S Korea sponsered by China is a clue it is foolish to overlook. Remember the following: 1) Chinese negotiate to achieve an advantage through deception 2) Chinese pass the ball to others and don't give a final decision 3) They greatly distrust the Japanese. China especially and also Korea has suffred grievously and brutally at the hands of Japan in the past 4) Consider Americans "tean-zan=childlike" but still do like Americans' open talakive nature and love their technology. 5) Were subjects of Western powers from the 1840 Opium wars until the end of WWII. Their proud culture deeply resents this humiliation by mainly western Europeans. 5)Lost their innocence due to 5000 years of constant warfare and feel they have a right to take advantage when the opportunity presents itself. 6) Tend to be a nation of moochers always seeking a little extra when they buy--and want to change contracts after signing them 7) Often practice non-action because they believe that the less you do or decide, the less trouble you bring down on yourself 8) Orient toward long term goals and thus avoid a loosing battle so they can have a second shot later 9) Express emotion and keep a mental ledger of obligations owed to and by friends. 10)Fear loss of face and having their ego deflated 11) Never admit they are wrong and do anything to cover a mistake 12) Remember wrongs for a long long time JohnG

<Let's hope that China runs a beauty contest for spectrum and uses coverage> What about cost as well as battery life as well as other investment and roaming factors?? Coverage is easy, just cover the whole sqrmile with either dollar bills, patents or lawyers or sheep?? TDMA versions to share the joy in large rural cells with an expensive mast in the middle?? Ilmarinen Mountainous regions are really interesting, as well as deserts, both for mobile sheep and phones as well as roaming.
