Paul, how was your vacation? Back with renewed vigor I see.

The San Jose Mercury News is full of articles on Windows ME today. Looks like ME and the P4 have a lot in common re new priorities:

For the first time, the software giant has created a new computer operating system -- the product on which its fortunes have rested for 25 years -- exclusively for consumers, marketing the PC not as a business tool but as a conduit for home entertainment.

The new focus reflects a shift in the way consumers are using computers, he said. ``The PC can be a game console, a home theater, a jukebox. It's a pretty drastically different experience.''

The review on ME have been controversial, as have been recent MSFT releases. But they always become the standard. May be some common method to the madness of the ME and the P4.

Re: Fry's Electronics is now selling Pentium III 1 GHz and 933 GHz Hewlett Packard Pavilion PCs.

Wonderful news. Congratulations.

How long has it been since Intel first "pretend shipped" the 1GHZ parts?

What are the expected "pretend ship" and "actual ship" dates for 1.13GHZ P3 and P4?

:-)

Dan

Paul -- I enjoyed your post so much on the AMD Mod thread I thought the INTC thread would like to see it too!

'Re: "Since you were interested in Fry's stock levels did you ask how many 1G INTCs
were in stock? -- Why not? Are you more interested these days in how many MOBOS
INTC sells than systems?

Did you ask how many 1G Athlon systems Fry's had in stock? How about 12" beach
balls in red, blue, and white stripes? Were there any CPUs in stock for the 500
i815EELs?

It's good to hear that INTC has a MOBO that Fry can sell. There ought to be some
place to put those 866MHz and slower chips that seem to work. The 820 & 840
MOBOS weren't doing so well the last time I looked. What was the last chipset
introduced by INTC that wasn't recalled -- was it the BX -- or the HX -- or another X?

Just curious"

Worried ? '

Got any good responses on this thread?

Re: "Elmer & Intel Investors - Some Good Intel News - finally ! Fry's Electronics is now selling Pentium III 1 GHz and 933 GHz Hewlett Packard Pavilion PCs"

As I needed to look for a satellite dish anyway, I went to the Tempe Fry's and while there checked out the computer section. The GHz CuMines are in abundance here as well! Another remarkable thing is that out of the 19 notebook computers on display, 18 were Intel based. 1 AMD. For all intents and purposes AMD has been driven out of the notebook market!
