Ted,

The media makes it seem there are riots on every corner of Europe; that it started in France and has spread quickly to other parts of Europe as well as England.

No violence, but that does not reduce the seriousness of the situation.

The stations were closed the entire week you were there?

No gas. Zippo. Nada. I was concerned that the airport would shut down because no one could get to work.

Scumbia Re..<<<<As for denial, I think that that has been true ever since the SUV came out and sold like they were gold. No one wants to deal with the concept that oil is a finite resource that is being depleted way too quickly.<<<<

Scumbia, I think the problem is more that most of the easy to find and pump oil resources are being depleted. We have hundreds of yrs. of energy supplies in coal, coal tar and shale deposits, not to mention nuclear and wind and solar. This country could easily be energy independent if we wanted to pay the price. The question is more how much will energy cost rather than will there be energy. My bet is that fuel cells will take over 30 to 50% of car vehicle needs within 25 to 30 yrs.
