IBM unilateral moves from defined benefits plans to cash-balance plans
I'm very familiar with that plan. The case I am most familiar with IBM tried to move a 40 year old from a vested $500/month lifetime pension to a $50,000 cash payment to an IRA. IBM slightly changed the age/time provisions only after the Communications Workers of America received a warm welcome by the staff.

<<We'll see how much bipartisan support remains in the Senate for the IRA Overhaul/Pension
Deception Bill after the AARP and AFL-CIO send letters to every senator saying "Just Vote No." >>

If it's no good it will not pass or be vetoed. It was your article that said bipartisan. Did you post a deceptive article?

Flapjack,

<<It also should be pointed out that individual workers, i.e., those at IBM, are presently challenging unilateral moves from defined benefits plans to cash-balance plans in the courts and in federal regulatory agencies.

Bottom line: This is another example of how corporate greedy weasels have Republican lawmakers in their hip pocket. This is another example of why organized labor is solidly behind Al Gore in this election. >>

Now you know how many of us feel about the unfair share
of our wages confiscated by the greedy Democrats to advance their socialist agenda.
