One of the problems that Sprint PCS has is terrible customer service--waiting at the store for ages.

Recent experience with Spint PCS customer service was mixed, but mostly positive.

Had to go to Sprint PCS store to have the software upgraded for the three phones we have. Only two nearby locations - San Francisco and Walnut Creek - both 20+ minutes from where I live. None in Oakland-Berkeley and upgrade has to be done at PCS store (note - all phones were bought at Radio Shack).

Luckily there was minimum wait for service - others who entered just after me had a short wait. Each phone took about 10 minutes and one phone got "fried" during the upgrade. They offered me a better phone free as a replacement, since they were out of the model that got fried. Luckily it was the store manager doing the upgrade so the offer did not need anyone's OK.

Walked out after about an hour with two upgraded phones and one new Samsung 6100. BTW, while they were preparing the new Samsung for me, the manager brought out another phone he had just fried while doing the upgrade.

I guess it was not one of his better days <gg>.

I attempted to upgrade my service over the phone but after waiting for almost three hours on three phones at once (one land line, two Qualcomm Sprint) I wrote them a letter telling them to cram it.
Any use for two good Qualcomm phones?

Well, they can add me to the list of PO'd subs. My phone quit working, and they spent four hours upgrading and testing it, after which I took it back and it failed on the first call in exactly the same way it was failing when I took it in.

Because the phone was out of warranty, I bought a new one, only to find when I got my next bill that they had charged me $29.99 for the privilege of having them activate the new phone.

It took another two hours of ragging at them to have them take the charge off, and it was really frustrating to hear them go through their little script on how to blow off an customer angry that he had not been notified of the charge. It was actually a pretty effective script; I guess it tells me that they have had a lot of practice.

In short-- they're scum, and they know we know it.

I suspect Verizon is eating Sprints (and AWE's) lunch New national rates and regional rates are very competitive. Coverage and customer service is A+ Pushing hard for tri-mode sales. It will be interesting to see subscriber numbers after this QTR. BTW a sales rep told me the new Kyocera 2035 would be out in the next couple of weeks said it is the best tri mode in testing.
