Scott,
RE:"As I said.. it WAS mentioned in the WSJ and CBS Evening News.. but it wasnt a major story.. that single comic episode however.. made most of Canada say, "OMG, We better pray Gore wins" <g>"

The US and Canada will be the greatest of friends regardless of who wins...
I think what you experienced was the ability of the media to put a spin on a political campaign based solely on the political leanings of a comic and a editor. This is common now a days. The media, inherently liberal, has a great deal of power. A few jokes here, a few sensational stories there and the sheeple go right along with it. Basically they just provide "bait" for news anyway.

Scott,

By way of disclosure, I belong to neither party.

As for G. Bush, I don't think he is big (I am not sure that's the right word) enough to run the country.....maybe sophisticated is a better word. That's my take on the guy.

Hey, is your only variable for electing US Presidents whether or not they know the Canadian Prime Minister? Have you considered the [admittedly remote] possibility that GWB knows all the names of the Canadian government except for the Prime Minister (due to some mental block, I dunno), while Gore knows only the Prime Minister's name but is completely ignorant of every other governing member in Canada?

I mean, come on ... this is like the sixth time today that you mentioned this Prime Minister thing! It's like an AMD freak shouting over and over "Intel warned/recalled/preannounced and because of it they will always warn/recall/preannounce and will die!!!". Is it true? Well, the first part is, but the conclusion fails to take in ten billion variables and instead focuses on just the one (okay, the three) that favours the speaker.

PS: I'm not anti-Gore. In fact, due to anti-nepotistic (just checked ... wow, that's really a real word!!) tendencies, I'm slightly less against Gore than I am [against] GWB. Just consider me a neutral who thinks that the electoral democracy has to be beefed up before we can stand a decent chance of electing truly qualified servants.

Scott,

that single comic episode however.. made most of Canada say

You mean people in Canada based their opinion about the world around them on a TV comedian? Gee, maybe I had a little unrealistically high opinion of the people up north.

You have single handedly changed my opinion of Canadians. From now, whenever I imagine a Canadian, I see a middle aged, slightly overweight guy with a six pack, bag of potato chips watching a sitcom. I see Al Bundy from "married with children". Is he a Canadian by any chance.

BTW, I always chuckle when I watch hockey, and when the announcers call black Canadian hockey players African Americans. When in fact, the only guy in NHL born in Africa is actually white.
