Pete, <I am sick of this we are "taken for granted" mentality of this administration. And it's going to hurt Gore this November.>

If you paid attention to the polls, the "taken for granted" mentality has paid off very handsomely for Clinton and Gore. American values now seem to reflect those of Rich on "Survivor" more than those chronicled in Tom Brokaw's "The Greatest Generation."

Pete,

We did not get the same amount of grants that seems to be given to California whenever the ground moves too much. Make them relocate to stable ground (like our people were required to).

California relocates every 150 years, about 20 feet. Eventually LA will relocate adjacent to San Francisco.

I believe that the neglectful treatment of the midwest is due to the lack of microprocessor development there. One good x86 startup, and you will get lots of government assistance.

You just like lying Gore. He would not help us during our gas price crisis this May. A "high gas prices does NOT justify using the SPR!". Now that it hits his base in the Northeast coast, it's fully justified! That's BS and you know it. Do not listen to the experts that say any releases from the SPR will take about 6 months to show up no matter what! "My mothers drugs cost three times what my dogs ones do." Wrong, especially if, they are the generic ones (its the other way)! His vision for the future of the US changes every two hours (that is apparently his attention span).

Actually he seems to be more concerned with the Midwest, and specifically the Upper Midwest. Its you guys that have the weather, much worst than New England.

And you know, its Murphy's Law, that the mild winters you guys have been having the last few winters will come to a very swift end this winter because of the high oil prices....I think OPEC has learned to manipulate the weather. <g>

But its you all that stand to benefit the most over this release. So be considerate and keep that thermostat at 65 and wear your down vests when inside.....I still have mine from my MN days.

Many here in the Midwest will not forgive him for the stance shift between last May and now. I remember Clinton doing the same when the Midwest had the big floods on the Mississippi and Missouri a few years ago. We did not get the same amount of grants that seems to be given to California whenever the ground moves too much. Make them relocate to stable ground (like our people were required to). Too bad if, that means going to Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, Montana, or North Dakota.

I, too, don't like the fact that so much $$$ when to CA during the earthquake but the need was there...much greater than when the river overflowed in Nord Dakota. Unfortunately, I was in LA when the earthquake hit and I also went with a friend to help his parents when the Red River overlowed its banks and threatened their home. So I have seen both types of catastrophes , and there is no comparison. I am not saying that when a river overflows its banks, its a minor problem....its not. But an earthquake is so much worse....it leaves its victims in abject terror and bearly functioning. There is nothing more damaging to the psyche then to realize suddenly the ground is no longer stabile.

So I don't think the gov't overpaid in LA...again the need was very much there. And between you and I (and this thread), I don't much care for LA. And I think its better that they all stay in LA. <g>
