Carl,

Do you think that Presidential resignations are good for the country?

Ooops. I forgot that we are the same person.

Carl, you recall things much different than I do. Newt gave back the upfront money after heavy criticism. Rupert Murdoch did have a significant amount of business coming up before the Congress. Newt's books disappeared quickly.

You probably also forgot that Newt's bimbo du jour episode during the impeachment strum and drang was cheating on his second wife. He served divorce papers on his first wife while she was in the hospital with cancer. A man's man, that Newt.

Cheers, Dan.

His books sold well enough that the company that gave him the big money up front made it back.

Ok, I looked it up.

Even before being sworn in as U.S. House speaker
in January of 1995, Gingrich rejected a
controversial $4.5 million book advance from a
Rupert Murdoch-owned publisher after critics
accused Gingrich of taking advantage of his new
position. He ended up earning about $650,000 in
royalties.

Carl, what I read was a little different. It turns out that both Clinton and Newt belong to the same religious sect (I know not which, "Southern Baptists?). That is nothing, but while Newt was married to his first wife he was "fooling around" with a women (to become his second wife?). The story however was that as long as he was married and a political icon, he wanted to make sure that he did not commit adultery and could claim so when asked by nosy reporters (and frankly it is none of their business), thus he engaged only in "non penetrating sex" (also known as oral sex) which according to his faith "was not sex" (now you may understand Clinton's straight face telling us "I did not have sex with that woman Lewinski" - he used a "cigar", or for that matter, "it depends what "is" is.).

By the way, I am sure that there are people on this thread that can correct any inaccuracies in this report, I got it second hand from someone who probably got it from a tabloid, when trying to understand why would an intelligent man like Clinton be unable to control that itch behind his zipper.
