Ish, I am assuming that I am younger than you. I was in high school in 1986 and in those days there were lot less fights amongst students. Now there are plenty. What I am trying to convey is many things have changed and the new generation kids are much smarter and rougher than kids at your time or my time. So it is pointless to compare kids with guns in your time and kids with guns in current time. Besides, we have entertainment industry all over the world catering to trigger (toys only) happy kids. Under no circumstances should kids have access to guns. They need to go through a whole gamut of life experiences and education before they touch and feel the gun.

When I was in high school, during hunting season many guns were brought to school. Each home room had a corner with many guns and hunting coats full of bullets. Ish, I also come form rural Illinois. You might remember me mentioning I come from the same county that the hunting club you had for awhile was in. I went to high school back in the '60's and I hunted when I was a teenager as did most of my friends. But I NEVER remember seeing a single shotgun or rifle at a school. I'm pretty sure any guns brought into school would probably have been taken to the school office and the kid would have gotten into some kind of trouble or other. That's a guess though 'cause it never happened. What you described just sounds flatout strange to me. In fact, it's just plain hard to even believe. Why would high school kids bring guns and "hunting coats full of bullets" into school anyway? If someone was gonna go hunting in the afternoon, it's not a big deal to stop by the house first. Besides, even if it had been allowed wouldn't you have to worry about folks swiping your shells since you couldn't carry your gear on you all the time? Bruce
