Re: Was I right or was I right...?
CNET says Timna is CANCELED!

Jim,

Wow, big surprise, NOT!!!

Now it's time to dig up my bookmarks so I can go harass the morons on the Rambus thread that were telling me I was so wrong about DRDRAM availability.

Like I've been harping for months, the Dramurai are refusing to make DRDRAM. P4 is low volume until there's an alternative chipset.

Soon all of you will come to realize what I already know. -ggg-

I was right too!

I wonder how much they are going to write off on this fiasco.

Jimbo, you THE MAN! (predicting Timna cancellation)

Was the Timna supposed to have used RDRAM or were they delaying it until they could get an MTH that worked?

It appears they decided they would have to redesign the Timna to get rid of the RDRAM interface and replace it with an SDRAM interface.

It seems like the idea of translating from RDRAM signalling to SDRAM signalling is an impossibility.

Is P4 supposed to support DDR and SDRAM through an MTH in Q2'01? What are the chances of THAT ever working?

Jim - RE: "CNET says Timna is CANCELED!"

Damn, Jim! You were right! jajaja

This CANCELLATION lessens the amount of FUD AMD will have to deal with next year, which is always a good thing. We won't have to read about analysts saying Timna will take away Duron sales.

Now it is just Duron vs. Celeron in the low end during the first half of next year. Once AMD's partners get those dang integrated chipsets shipping and in systems AMD will be on equal price footing with Celeron systems. Performance-wise, of course, is no contest whatsoever. Duron smothers Celeron.
