People who believe in God are fine, as long as they don't believe so ardently in whatever God they believe in (there are so many God's) that they lose sight of the fact that there is great religion and philosophical diversity on this planet- and much violence is caused by people insisting that their way is the only way. I think we are only complaining about really intolerant God believers. Are you a really intolerant God believer? If you aren't I can't understand why you would get upset about our discussion. Further the whole mission statement of this thread creates the expectation of a certain type of discussion here. If you aren't interested in a real discussion, I'm not sure what you hoped to do by stopping buy to merely carp. Do you think that kind of nasty sniping will make anyone see the light? Doesn't it really just confirm the worst views some of us here have of people who might be true believers? And are you totally uneducated as well? Is this why you disparage a BA in Psych, poli sci or philosophy? Do you hold some lofty view of man as a noble creature destroyed by education? If so you subscribe to primitivism. An interesting emotional, though not very reasonable, view of life. Sounds to me like maybe you are a little envious of those who are more educated that you. You can still go back and get an education. I highly recommend that you do. Then you won't feel the need to do something silly like try to insult someone by guessing they have a BA (when what you are actually doing is making yourself look very, very small). Psychology, Poli Sci and Philosophy are very interesting. Obviously you know nothing about them, but I wouldn't brag about that, if I were you. Psychology will help you get along with people- something you obviously need. Poli Sci will help you understand your government, and what a liberal is, and why a poli sci discussion of liberals (or liberal "bashing") really isn't germane to this thread. Philosophy might give you a broader world view so you can understand what we are talking about here. Because right now you don't seem to have a clue.

Umm, your inability to read the charter of the thread is pretty clear. Solon also said, "Is it time to discover a God based on acceptance and love...rather than on fear?" and I think he's right, that is a question we should all be asking. We are seeking truth here. People full of anger are welcome, but they and their ideas will likely be ridiculed as examples of what is not Godly yet so closely held by True Believers. Burn us at the stake. That is what your ancestors would have done.

The bible is basically a history of bloodshed, battle, procurement of slaves, rape, incest, witchcraft, and dangerous medicine--right from the git-go. You appear to be upset that religion should be subject to criticism, censure,or evaluation. I find this to be a prejudicial idea. You must remember that religion enjoyed (and flourished in), that distinction from criticism for many centuries. They used the winnowing method of sustaining that distinction. They simply killed men of reason or of bravery--leaving superstitious sheep. It is a miracle (ah hmmm), that we ever advanced into the age of reason and enlightenment. All of us owe those brave souls that risked their all for the pursuit of truth--a debt that we can never pay. Can you honestly tell me that you don't know the results that obtained from that elitist position in society? Do you not know that "intolerance, hate, jealousy, spitefulness, insecurity, and other attributes of evil and of weakness." were defining characteristics of the one and only True religion on Earth? Do you truly believe then that religion ought to be permitted to cast its spells outside of the corrective mechanism of criticism? Do you repudiate the Constitution (pardon me: the Charter of Rights and Freedoms)? Does this prohibition stand for ALL religions...or only for the one that you belive in? Well, don't just stand around gawking. Did you come hear to stare, or did you come here to think? Your shoes are filthy. Please remove them, leave the baggage at the door--and welcome!
