why cannot we sell a stock we were 'wrong' about?

any stock that goes down AFTER we buy it

We were wrong

Is it ok to be wrong for 6 months on a stock
if after 6 months it goes back up to give a gain?

how about 9 months?

how about never?

when DOES one admit ... I was wrong?

Well, it is human nature not to want to take a loss, especially when one believes that they will eventually be proven right. This is the main reason that technical analysis is effective. Basically TA is a study of how human psychology is reflected in stock prices. If human nature ever changes, a lot of TA folks will be out of business.

Sue, i have no better answer than the other responses
but it sure seems like many of do it

AMES
fell 33% to 4 in 2 days after reporting same store sales drop of 3.9%
Q3 est is for .11 (I think they miss) and FYE of 1.38
book (not really meaningful for a retailer is $19.90)
I scalped this one well last time but have less than 100% confidence this go'round

CMTN
have a small 1st leg in in my own and the Z
may add but not yet
DSL is way out of favor right now
'00 ests are for .98 '01 for 1.37
will sit on this small position awaiting earnings due out on 10/17

FNV
am still baby sitting this one but am not real happy
paying a 13% dividend now
P/E of <3
book of $27.17
TTM eps of $2.19
Q3 ets .55 Q4 .58
FYE $2.05
so why will no one come forward and buy this pig?

RMDY
sitting on $211 mil cash, $6 a share
TTM eps $1.03 forward est $1.36
still looks like a good hold to me
earnings due 10/24

SKS
just one I wanted to have tucked away
ests are for FYE $1.17
will Santa be nice to it?

SSTI
they should do Q eps of .35 vs .02 last year
'00 FYE ests $1.04
I still think this one sees $30+ after the carnage is over
plus it has been good for daytrades
a keeper imo

so there I go with the above making a case for holding loosers
only time will tell
