Willy will yield pretty well at 1.8-1.9GHz

They may have to drop the P4 voltage to 1.2-1.3 volts or thereabouts to get power dissipation tolerable at 1.9Ghz. Is it likely they will hit 1.9Ghz and low voltage at .18 micron?

Max et al, techno guys and gals...
RE:"Willy will yield pretty well at 1.8-1.9GHz, if they need about 20-30% higher clockspeed to be on par to better than Mustang, which will yield at 1.33-1.66 max, they will do pretty fine. Where I could be wrong is the clockspeed delta needed... Mustang+DDR could improve Athlon's IPC by 20-25% so it's now 40-50% higher clockspeed that will be needed to be on par to better."

Was talking today with a friend that just attended an "Intel show" featuring the P4 on Sunday.
Yeah, A real live demo.
According to Intel...using Intels benchmarks of choice. INTEL is saying that the 1.4 Ghz P-4 performs 20% better than a 1 Ghz P-III.
Now, maybe you can extrapolate a delta for just how fast it is vs say a T-bird and/or a thunderbird.
He also said that Intel was not denying the P4 was slow on some benchmarks...

Sounds to me that a 1.2 GHz T-bird should be on par with a 1.4 Ghz P4 no problem. A 20-25% IPC advantage of the Mustang would put P4 in a world of hurt....
That would mean the IPC is nearly 40% better for a Mustang than a P4? Correct me please.
So a 2 Ghz P4 would perform similarly to a 1.5 Ghz Mustang?
Or worse?

Also, NO WAY Intel compares the P4 to a Mustang much less a T-bird on their website...
