Bush is proud of his work on the crime in Texas, people see it as wrong? I live in Texas, and the thing that bothers me about the whole thing is why are we compared to New York? Because of the population? Because of the number of inmates or probationers per population margins? George W. Bush has done a wonderful job in the state of Texas, and locking people up is only part of it.<<< New York and Texas are compared because they are both large states with Republican governors. New York's crime rate dipped 21 percent; Texas went down five percent. Meanwhile, Bush crows like a New Yorker on the crime issue. The fact is that Texas put more folks in jail per capita than any organized territory and/or nation in the world. Bush has nothing to be proud of when his administration jails people of color but allow white folk to get probation and treatment. >>>I agree, do the crime and do the time. But what happens when people don't learn their lesson, or new offenders commit crimes? Overlook it? I don't think we can do that. They need to be locked up. Ethnic background is always a factor when someone is trying to get out of going to jail, but I'm glad we have law enforcement that sticks to the law and puts the race issue behind.<<< So Bush believes in affirmative access when it comes to sending folks to jail, huh? And the evidence shows that Texas has not put "the race issue behind." >>>Maybe we just have more bad folks in Texas than in New York. Maybe we have hard headed people, more so than in New York. It doesn't matter what color your skin is...<<< Texas had good people. It's not a problem with Texans, rather it's a problem of failed policies in the state of Texas. I think, generally, when you pit Bush's record as governor against the records of other governors, Bush is where he's at due more to family connections and big money supporting his candidacy. >>>DON'T MESS WITH TEXAS, AND YOU WON'T GO TO JAIL!<<< Yes, stay home in Texas and watch your television after your hard day of work. Whatever you do, don't go outside. Make sure you get to the company picnic on the 4th of July and spend lots of money during Christmas time when you can get more time off from work. And, above all, enjoy your freedom!
