RE: "You have every reason to fear P4.
P4 will be hyped, Mhz will be hyped and what Intel will do to cover the lower IPC of the P4 is when they launch 1.4-1.5 they will start to hype 1.7-2.0 Ghz AT THE SAME TIME...
If AMD doesn't have a plan to combat this the press will buy it....they love "spin".
AMD is good to go in Q1 and Q2 but when do investors get squirrly about after then? I think they are already getting a little squirrely."

If Intel hypes a 1.7 - 2.0 Ghz P4, what happens to the P3?
It's only running at 1.0 Ghz. Does the P3 become a low-end
processor?

Jim, I think Mustang might turn out to be very, very fast indeed.

I mean IPC here.

If it slams P4 on most benchmarks, I believe the "clock speed" argument can be overcome.

Jim <You have every reason to fear P4>

I know, that's why I bought INTC today. I think AMD has a couple good quarters left and some people here better not stay on the boat too long. Paul is absolutely right about PIV, and the fact that PIII won't be around to compare.

That is also why I think Jerry is trying to make every penny he can, to take advantage of bonuses before he retires.

I have a different opinion from yours.

P4 hype will not work as effectively as it does now once P4 comes out.

AMD will be even in a better position going into Q3'01 - hint:SMP. The Mustangs/durons(or poliminos sp?) will become the most favorite processors with SMP. Use of AMD duel processor systems will become pervasive in gamers, high performance PCs, workstations, and low end server segments.

Going into 2002, AMD will have Clawhammer, sledgehammer to take on Intel. AMD is going to be $7 Billion to $8 Billion(revenues) company in the year 2001, and AMD will come out of Intel shadow in a big way with accompanying higher share price.
