Intel up their sleazy old tricks:

Earlier this year, Intel approached Micron about the possibility of licensing that company's DDR-equipped Samurai chipset technology, a source close to Micron said. However, the memory-chip maker declined to give Intel an exclusive license because it also wanted to use the Samurai to support the Athlon, according to the source.

I think a combined Intc/AMD investment is a pretty good bet.

While my enthusiasm for AMD comes and goes and comes again, I believe without a doubt that intel is a bad investment (but not necessarily a bad company). The valuation is just too high- PE ~= 30 2001 earnings + plus gains from investments ~= 25% of earnings.
