Flapjack-
Can I ask you this? Don't you think the Rev. Al Sharpton & the Rev. Jesse Jackson hold back the black people from moving ahead? I do.

punks who rob old women with cheap Saturday night specials usually do not obey laws and don't go to gun shows. No new law will stop them. There should be much much stiffer penalties, faster convictions and old fashioned prisons. (We have a new prison in Westchster, NY -- wall to wall carpeting, cable TV -- like the better motels)

HUD lost 50 billion dollars. Is that not ripping off the public ? Corporations do what they are supposed to and that is run businesses. This booming economy is due to MSFT IBM CSCO etc etc etc not Clinton or the Republican Congress. For over 25 years the Democrats have been saying give me your money so we can help the poor. All they have done with it is spend it on themselves.
Did you ever consider that when the Democrats won the election under Bill CLinton that they could have made a symbolic gesture. Instead of spending 50 million on a huge extravagant party for themselves they could have opened homeless shelters. Every time they take in money in the name of the poor they confiscate 80 to 90 % of it to enjoy the good life.
You people must be brain dead to actually believe that they want to help. They only want power. Look at Gore for God sake's the man is a slum lord. Go ask his own tenants.

By putting what amounts to a price floor on guns, you'd be discriminating against those who aren't so well-off but want to own one. Why are you supporting gun rights for just the well-to-do? And who's to determine what a "serious hunter and sportsman" is? Are self-defense and weekend target plinking "legitimate" reasons to own one? Who decides?

What "more" gun laws would you suggest? We already have hundreds, if not thousands of laws that were enacted for the purpose of keeping guns away from hoodlums and criminals. And, guess what? In jurisdictions where the existing laws are enforced, they seem to work pretty well. And in jurisdictions where they aren't, they don't. Hmmm. How novel.

< We need more gun laws to take cheap Saturday night specials away from hoodlums and criminals.>
*************
How the hell is putting several thousand words down on a piece of paper and calling it a new law going to take a gun from some anonymous slimeball hiding in a sewer?

I'm for space exploration but I think your mind is too far out.
