Doug,

I will personally cheer the day he retires, and I'm hoping that it's still his plan at the end of this year.

I don't think Jerry is going to retire at the end of this year. Maybe at the end of next year. I am not sure what I will do, but I will consider selling when he retires.

Joe

Doug Re...From what I've heard Dirk has always wanted to implement his dream x86 cpu and AMD gave him the chance (and probably the best offer). <<<

Doug, The bottom line is that AMD gives Dirk and the other engineers the freedom to design without looking over their shoulders; if you believe the anti Intel site. And that freedom can be explosive in that it allows new ideas to ferment. Notice that not only are the x86 cpu's the best in the world, but also flash and the chipsets are doing well.

He's not washed up at all. Which is most unfortunate. I don't know what your opinion of his work is, but what good has he done for the company? What can you attribute directly to him that has helped us? <<<<<

Surely you jest. Just look at your previous paragraph. Sanders has encouraged a company wide policy of accepting any idea that will help AMD whether inside or outside of AMD. Now I realize many here feel that AMD should cut off their chipset partners and supply the chipsets themselves; to which I still say, BUNK AMD will have a plethoria of chipsets shortly. Partnering with Micron for DDR will a great move for both. Sharing with Mot for copper process was a great move. AMD completely out manuvered Intel last quarter and didn't have to announce. What do you want to bet, AMD won't have to announce this quarter.

He's downright rude to the analysts <
Some analysts, if not most, think they know better than the CEO as to how a company is performing. Wouldn't you be rude to someone who denigrates you and your company based on a few statistics or rumors? Look at AMD selling at a PE of 8 as opposed to a SOX PE of 40. Why? Because the analysts think a price war is coming and AMD will lose. If you look at the ML report from yesterday, it seems AMD is winning. AMD yesterday picked up Micron and NEC for Athlon computers. AMD picking up market share is a cinch. How many of the internet companies had a PE in the zillions while losing money, because of their supposed market share increases.

<I will personally cheer the day he retires, and I'm hoping that it's still his plan at the end of this year. <<<

If you look at the press releases Jerry and Craig have put out this past yr. AMD's have been more truthful. Personally, Craig has looked like a chump this yr. Jerry's on a roll, why stop now.

Crazy_Doug, Re: I don't know what your opinion of his work is, but what good has he done for the company?

At the bottom of all else I could say, let me say this: AMD has changed fundamentally in the last 16-20 months (yes, it's really different this time). This change could not have happened without Jerry Sanders pointing the AMD ship in the "right" and seeing that it remains on course. I'm not saying that Jerry is the perfect CEO or the perfect human or anything close to that, but I give him the respect for what he has accomplished. It ain't braggin' if you've done it and Jerry has done it!

Re: He's downright rude to the analysts causing the market to be against us.

Good!!!
They've been plenty rude to him. I wouldn't take their guff and I hope you wouldn't either. Play the game the way the ANALysts and others wish and you wind up being pimped by them forever. Life's too short for that. The ANALysts are not what business is about, engineering, production, and sales are. ANALysts are a group of folks in a sideshow tent that never get their hands dirty actually doing anything in this world except passing judgement on those that do. When they are rude, give it right back to them! And more power to Jerry Sanders for doing just that.

Kindest regards,
CrazyMan

What can you attribute directly to him that has helped us? He's downright rude to the analysts causing the market to be against us, he's a pathlogical liar causing shareholder lawsuits, he leaks information that he probably shouldn't, and virtually every time he opens his mouth he does something to hurt the company or the share price. I will personally cheer the day he retires, and I'm hoping that it's still his plan at the end of this year.

I guess it never dawned on you that successful turnarounds don't happen all that often.

Sanders is one of the few people who could have turned AMD around.......there are few people in the world who have that kind of vision and guts.
