Re: "Don't you find it rather interesting that VIA would develop a DDR chipset for P4 without Intel permission knowing full well Intel will sue them based on past experience? OK, let's say Intel doesn't sue them...does Rambus have a case against Intel because they could claim Intel is aiding VIA? Will Intel "pretend" sue VIA to create a smokescreen they aren't really supporting a DDR chipset and pull the lawsuit after Intel makes a DDR P4 chipset...al the while helping VIA with the DDR chipset?
That's what I would do if I was Intel...with the agreement that VIA pay a little royalty later on..."

That's what I'd do too. Let VIA go ahead and market one, support the P4 ramp and then Intel will finally come out with their own DDR chipset. It's buys Intel time and fills a opening in their product portfolio.

JMM: Just a little OT here but I just wanted to ask you and your friend Greensponge where the inflation was and is? It appears he has been looking the wrong way as commodity prices and factory utilization plunge. I am still buying lettuce shipped from Salinas Valley in fossil fuel burning capital equipment driven by people who draw real wages for the same old price of 99 cents. Yes I know he masterfully kept inflation at bay by shutting down the great capital machine of America by throwing the napalm of of interest rates onto the fire of oil price hikes thereby burning down the factory of America. Good job!

Also would you please tell your friend/hero AG to lighten up before the strong $ murders the currencies of all our markets and prices us out of the world-market ala the sons of Nippon. We don't have to be a mercantile nation we have plenty of internal resources especially if we choose to exploit them. JFD
