Not necessarily. It could mean that to IPO in this market, at these price levels, would be a gift to buyers which the Q isn't interested in making. It means that it expects things to get much better by January, which is fine with me.

Perhaps there are second thoughts about the spin-off.

On the contrary, I view the SPinco postponement as a potential "hint" - a very subtle one - from Qualcomm that business conditions would be much more favorable in January 01, either due to better eps prospects or strategic deals finally coming together in the next few months, or both.

Q's money flow has been positive all day (currently close to +20,000 MM) and trading has been confined in a relatively narrow range.

So far the signs are NOT negative. We shall, however, await the final verdict come 4:00 PM.

IMO they were waiting for a favorable IRS ruling before they prepared the necessary SEC filings, and January is a pretty short timeframe to get it all done. Heck, they haven't even named the new company yet. I don't think the delay is any signal of weakness in qcom, just the market.
