imo; only the ballots with one vote for president should be counted.

i am sorry people had ballots with two votes for president, but their votes should not count.

voting is a very important responsiblity and people should care enough and have enough sense to do it right.

if any re-voting is allowed, then the whole nation should have a re-vote, not florida alone, and the whole election should be voided. and then we can make rules and rules and rules and then we can re-vote and re-vote and re-vote.

Dear Party Time and all: I would like you to read this excerpt from the news this morning and tell me what you think?

"-In Oregon, a recount may also be required by a state law if the margin between Bush and Gore were less than one-fifth of 1 percent, or just under 3,000 votes. With about 80,000 more votes to be counted, many in Republican leaning areas, Gore led Bush by about 2,100 votes."

My question is: HOW is it possible that the MEDIA had put Oregon in the Gore column with the above FACTS?? Similar situation in New Mexico and possibly Wisconsin and Iowa. JDN

In '96 15,000 votes in the same area were thrown out because of double punched ballots. If we decide to break the rules it becomes an endless battle for lawyers.
First, the TV networks claimed a Gore victory before polls were closed in the panhandle. This certainly cost Bush thousands of votes. And then you have endless voting improprieties elsewhere which would benefit each party. Either you live with the decision as is or you risk our democracy. If after the mail in ballots are counted and Gore wins, then he is president. If Bush then has the lead then, so be it.

The ballot may have required closer than normal scrutiny to avoid error however it took that in cooperation with a careless voter to produce a defective ballot. People often fail to pay attention and are careless, it explains the thousands of auto accidents we have each year. I'll bet many would like a second chance there as well.

Many more than not completed the ballot correctly. As we used to say in the service, "There is always that 10%".

I was at the polls when they opened up here in the Last Frontier. I signed in, the poll person asked if I had any questions about the ballot, I went into the booth, checked over the sample ballot laying there, took my ballot out of the secrecy sleeve and filled in the circles for my votes. Then I replaced it in the secrecy sleeve, put the ballot in the ballot counter/receptacle and went outside feeling like the most powerful person in the world.

Now maybe we Alaskans are too backward for the rest of you folks, but if anybody asks for a recount I'll bet we can make it with out all this stupid demonstrating in the streets. And, by the way, Alaska gave its three electoral college votes to Bush and there's no argument about it.

I'm sorry the democrat who designed the Florida ballot did such a poor job, but that's the way it is folks.
