John,

to encourage polarization between the people and the parties, and is bringing the country closer to a constitutional confrontation, the same constitution one of them will have to swear to "defend and protect" in a couple of months.

This is the fundamental strength and difficulty of the United States. Why do you see it as being a bad thing? Our country was born from revolution, and the writers of the Constitution clearly intended to provide the citizenry the opportunity to challenge the government, and even overthrow it if necessary.

RE:"Mr. Gore should have stayed home in Washington, instead of sending teams of lawyers (and Jessie Jackson) down to Florida. Instead of injecting himself into an ongoing process, he should have let the process run it's course.

Now he's talking about supporting lawsuits, which is the functional equivalent of encouraging lawsuits. If the ballot in Palm Beach is unfair or illegal, HE is not the aggrieved party. The voters will be ruled to have been deprived of their right to vote. Palm Beach county and the state of Florida owe nothing to Mr. Gore or Mr. Bush"

How could this ever surprise you? This is the party of Trial lawyers, and "it's never our fault", and lawsuits galore...

RE:"Both should respectfully bow out of the process until Florida certifies an election result"

I'm sure Bush would have liked to but is forced to say something as the Gore led media circus is in full swing.

Jim

"until Florida certifies an election result"

The feds ought to take over Florida and certify the results, then contemplate when/if Florida is fit to be a state. Nice mess Florida has created. This is just peachy. I don't want Florida to certify anything, haven't they shown enough incompetence?
