I'm not a FL attorney, but this country's 200+ years of elections and common sense seem to militate in favor of leaving things as they stand. Otherwise, every precinct, every county, every state, everywhere in the country is in question. And probably with good reason.

Do we see Bush demanding a nationwide recount to claim the popular vote? No. Yet, with the vast numbers of people swept and lured to the polls last Tuesday in Democrat "dragnet" operations in big cities, and with reports of some heavily-Democrat precincts lacking unbiased or Republican election judges to observe and prevent ballot box stuffing, and all the other election irregularities reported, it's possible if not probable that Bush won the popular vote, if you throw out all the Democrat votes cast by dead people, no-shows, stolen voting machines subsequently abandoned in places like St. Louis, repeat voters, unregistered voters, illegal aliens, etc., etc., etc.

I would argue to Gore/Daley/Jackson/Wexler in response to their disingenuous "disenfranchisement" claim that, because of all the Democrat election misfeasance, all of us who vote only once and vote our ballots accurately are really the ones who are being disenfranchised. AND IN THIS ELECTION, THAT'S HALF THE POPULATION! Historically, the Republicans have been loathe to go down that road, fearing that it would harm our country both from within and without. But the more they have let the Democrats get away with it, to avoid internal strife and external mockery, for the good of the country, the bolder the Democrats have become, and the lower the Democrats will stoop to win at any cost.

When's the last time you heard of the Republicans stealing an election? Yet, we regularly hear about the Democrats doing it. Sour grapes? No. The Republicans just have let the Democrats get away with it, for years.

Maybe this is a golden opportunity for the Republicans to put down their foot and say, "Enough is enough. Let's clean up this filthy mess now, even if it exposes our dirty laundry to the rest of the world." For the good of the country.

I hope that the Florida judge who uses his/her discretion takes into account that almost no other precincts/counties/states in the country will get this kind of scrutiny, that because it's a national election there needs to be some standard of uniformity, and that what is fair for one is fair for all.
