fuzzy, as much as it hurts to admit, your 2 posts may hold the hard truth of the matter. The dems are within the law to ask for selected recounts & the gop didn't counter. no judge is going to overturn the 72 hour provision. the best the gop can do now is closely inspect the recount. based on the "early returns" i am reading on this thread re the recount #s, it does not look good.

In hindsight, why did the gop not ask for some recounts...what were they thinking? maybe they figured somehow that there was no way a recount process could give them a victory and so took a last ditch effort to divert.

oh well, even if elected gore will not get ANYTHING done. As far as future prez elections are concerned.., there are many many more dems than repubs...a much higher % of repubs vote (historically)...you can bet that in 2004 a signif increase % of dems will vote (based on the narrow 2000 election) It will be tougher for repubs to win the next few elections
