Mucho Maas,

The reaction all comes down to context--whether somebody is part of your group or not.

An interesting view point but one I disagree with, especially because you are part of the group as are many, many people who disagree with me.

Those who try not to belong to a particular group or think outside the box are usually villified.

If you truly think I believe addressing fundamental issues revealed in the financial statements such as the ones you bring to light is thinking outside the box, I've apparently given you the wrong impression in my posts here in the folder over the last year and a half.

Moreover, comparisons of the way you presented your financial performance with the way Lindy has presented his aren't in my opinion analagous. I won't go into the details that support my opinion about that out of fear that doing so might cause you to feel villified. Villifying people isn't my intent in the smallest way.

MM,

Greetings and salutations - I have been a long time reader of the thread and I have to admit that it is the most balanced thread that I have had the pleasure to come across in a long time. The people here on this thread are perhaps the most even handed and consistently successful investors (as is backed up by their performance) that I have ever had the pleasure of reading. Please do not take this the wrong way - there is no ONE ultimate view of investing and no one is in any hurry to prove you wrong.

People with a very long view towards investing, those who have had many 1000s of percent gains on their portfolios due to their consistent and measured views towards investing based on a philosophy that has proven itself to correct over a longer term horizon than 1 year, sometimes take a deprecating view about folks who have a 5000% increase (a 50 fold increase) in their portfolio in 1 year. I have been investing in CSCO for about 8 years now - never sold a share - so you can see where I come from - much before I became aware of the gorilla game. The practitioners of this game, as represented by any number of the participants of this excellent thread, however, have elevated what was an opportunistic philosophy into one based on logic and a consistent underpining of viewpoint based on a realistic appreciation of what is occuring.

In essence, what I did from a gut reaction has been given a scientific, to a certain extent, validity as to why I did it. I am extremely fortunate in that.... *smile*...

So, do not be offended by UF or Mike - they certainly did not mean to imply that they disparage your achievement (I may be digging a hole here since UF and Mike can certainly speak rather more eloquently than I ever could about themselves - Sires, I do not mean to talk in your stead... my apologies if I seem to...*grin*)... but what I wish to point out is that they are speaking from experience generated not through a 1 year term but rather through experience generated over years of consistently successful investing....

Please take this in the spirit that it was written - I definitely do not wish either a recount or a revote as to the validity of the actual process ..... *smile*...

Regards to you...

Locke...

>> I was responding to UF's point about LTBH, as he seems to doubt my approach works too well over a period of time.

I'm surprised you've taken umbrage at our exchange. I thought it was very clear that I was congratulating you on your accomplishments, but at the same time trying to explain that this particular thread, out of the thousands on SI, is not devoted to momentum investing or trading strategies. I don't know if you've read the Gorilla Game, but if you want to become a ltb&h investor, as you stated, it might be a good idea to review it.
