If I were Trent Lott, Hillary's desk would be in the basement of the capitol.

You're out to lunch on this one as usual. The Republican's won't give any chairmanships to the demolibs. They can make the dems look like the bad guys and win big in 2 years and ram it down the dems throats.knc

If you think the past six years were "gridlocked," you ain't seen nothin' yet. Daschle-Teddy-Hillary will tie up everything that walks and talks in the U.S. Senate. And you know what? The Dems' tactics also will carry the moral weight and wishes of the majority of the American people. (Lest we not forget, more people voted for Gore than voted for Bush.)

No one knows what the final vote tally,is as yet nor who won the popular vote. But assuming Gore wins by a few votes, I don't think the close margin will justify the zero sum game you propose nor do I think the majority of the public will accept it, especially if it hurts their portfolio.

So this will be the exact opposite of 1984, when Reagan, because of his overwhelming popularity with the American people, was able to accomplish much with a Democratic Congress.

With a Repub controlled Sen and House, Bush will be able to accomlish a lot of his moderate agenda.

If Lott is smart, he'll yield (somewhat) on the issue of committee chairmanships, etc., allowing Dems to introduce amendments in committee, etc. But that ain't gonna happen because Lott is a backwater political hack.

There's no need for Lott to yield. The repubs should maintain their majority. I do agree however the Lott is not the sharpest at times.
