After all, the ultimate goal is to make sure that each person who voted was counted,

The ultimate goal should be to see that each ballot is given equal weight. This is certainly not the case now with those in Palm Beach being scrutinized while those in Duval County only received a machine recount. Voters are not being treated equally among different counties; this is in fact unconstitutional. Either you have a full hand recount of the entire state of FLA(where possible), or you accept the machine recount. Any other scheme is merely that, an attempt by Gore to mine for additional votes where he believes he can get them.

That fact that some people do not see this for what it really is perplexes me, and that is an understatement.

"A professional election commissioner would not allow this state of affairs"

Correct me if I am wrong...but I do not believe the election commissioner is responsible for instituting the voting laws set forth in the State of Florida...only upholding them.

"If the Bush people pursue their tactics to deny the vote to those who have the right to vote."

The Bush people have not denied the right to vote to anyone. If people go to the voting booth uninformed, hurried, or confused...then maybe they shouldn't be voting at all. Mistakes are made...live with it and try to do better next time.
