I don't think this will happen, it would take to long. re: "The polls show most Americans would prefer accuracy, over an incorrect closure based upon a deadline that may have been made before the USA had an enormous population as large as 240MM (edit: which implies the Counties have probably grown too, making such an early deadline no longer adequate). Laws aren't updated until they are proven inadequate." I don't think you can depend on the staying power of American opinion on this. We are not know for patience. And there will be a lot of very pissed people at the end of this. BTW, the Florida Secretary of State has ordered the hand recount counties to submit written reasons for adjusting their counts, by 2 pm tomorrow. More partisan strategy, IMHO. And this is now nothing but two sides trying to steal the vote, no one is looking for the "real" vote anymore. Florida is the board for an elaborate, high stakes chess game. On a lighter note, the funniest part, there are 5000 hotel rooms in Tallahassee. Saturday is the Florida - Florida State game, and all the rooms are reserved for fans. All the lawyers, reporters, and politicians have been given notice that they have to vacate their rooms. In typical pragmatic Florida fashion, the Inn Keepers know the fans will be back every other year, the other guys are just transients <g>. So, bottom line, maybe Florida/Florida State is more important than Bush/Gore. I know it will be in the hearts of the folks in Tallahassee this weekend. John
